Womozilla!!

16th November,2015

It was a sunny day, a bright one! I had just come travelling 800kms from my home, all for this one event something that i had planned after discussion with Rashmi Shrivastav. Within days of joining Mozilla she had started contributing and after weeks she was in top 10 of sumo. She had this vision that the girls of her hostel should also be part of one of the biggest revolutions that were going around the globe. She asked for my help and being the club lead of Jnct firefox club i said yes. But i wanted the event to be much more than a introduction so i told her that apart from the intro session we will have small demos of projects that they can work or contribute on, and for this she readily agreed.

Four Things:
1.) Sumo
2.)Localizations
3.)Geo Stumbler
4.) App Developement

These were my main center of interest when it came down to such a event. I started with the basic description Of what Mozilla was all about, how things worked, what was the Firefox Student Ambassador Program and how they can initiate it in their respective colleges.

 Explaining Stuff!

Once I was done with the introduction part we had Rashmi Shrivastav and Simran Singh who explained the enthusiasts about SuMo(Support Mozilla) and how with simple tweets they can serve alot of users all over the world.

They were immediately ready to register with the FSA program and we got around 15-20 womoz registered to it on spot. Then they all made their persona account and registered as volunteers on Support Mozilla and for next few minutes we had some really intresting tweets that were written and answered by these womoz.

Next We had Localization Where Sukesh Chaudhary and Alisha Jose took the charge as Sukesh works on hindi localization whereas Alisha does southern localizations they both explained how people can spend few minutes and their knowledge in order to make life of billions insanely cool!

The part of geo stumbler was explained by Shrey Soni and Shivani Pandey who are leading contributors in the geo stumbling app.

In the end me and Piyush Singhal taught girls about some basic html tags through which they can create simple but impactful applications and also upload it to firefox marketplace.

Overall the impact was great as we now had 20 womoz ready with the mission to make the web open , free and more lovable to use in short be a part of the great Mozillian community. In th eend we also distributed swags to ones who showed great potential with their queries and work, we also took a group picture of th ewomoz which is here...
