Wordpress and its plugins....

A beautiful evening to write..the festive season, the calm wind adds to the mood. Today as i sit down on my electronic typewriter sipping my fresh brewed coffee, i thought why dont i write about the world's fastest growing tool. Yup you read it write a tool that not only let you make out of the box designed blogs but also websites crafted in one of the best user interfaces you will ever see. Its WordPress, a blogging site...a website maker...a open source community and the list would go on and on.

Earlier when we use to code websites using HTML and CSS alongwith the JS , it took days and even months to create a fully functional website which has a great interface, is easy to use, engages Tye user and the most important thing looks good and pleasant to see. But thanks to WordPress this stuff can now be developed in 3 to 4 days at max.

Now what is so different in WordPress that makes it stand out of the league? Is it drag and drop functionalities or the fancy templates... well no. The major reason fir The success  of WordPress were the plug-ins thousands of them , for almost each and every functionality. Now whats a plug-in? Let's understand this with a example : we all charge our smartphones using a charger right! And moat of us would have noticed as we plug in the charge in our smartphone it starts charging. Now you might thing how is that example relevant to a WordPress function... well try to grasp this "plug-in" is nothing but a mere connection made between two things. In our example it was phone and the charger  whereas in WordPress its the connection of tge developed site to a pre made software which can reduce hundreds or even thousands of codes. For scrolling a picture on the top of yoyr website you need to use the marquee tag, provide the height ..the width and what not. In WordPress all you got to do is install a plugin such as htslider from the WordPress plugin store and you will get your job done within seconds. Just like the slider we have plugins for all sorts of functionalities from scrolling text to making a phone call righr from your website! Dont you find it amazing....so give it a try ...build a website using WordPress plugins and you'll be amazed to see how quickly and easily you could be the next amazon of the world. Good luck folks!

Pushonit:
Try using the woocommerce plugin if you are developing a e commerce website , that plugins offers some really cool functions that can complete 50% of yoyr job.

Womozilla!!

16th November,2015

It was a sunny day, a bright one! I had just come travelling 800kms from my home, all for this one event something that i had planned after discussion with Rashmi Shrivastav. Within days of joining Mozilla she had started contributing and after weeks she was in top 10 of sumo. She had this vision that the girls of her hostel should also be part of one of the biggest revolutions that were going around the globe. She asked for my help and being the club lead of Jnct firefox club i said yes. But i wanted the event to be much more than a introduction so i told her that apart from the intro session we will have small demos of projects that they can work or contribute on, and for this she readily agreed.

Four Things:
1.) Sumo
2.)Localizations
3.)Geo Stumbler
4.) App Developement

These were my main center of interest when it came down to such a event. I started with the basic description Of what Mozilla was all about, how things worked, what was the Firefox Student Ambassador Program and how they can initiate it in their respective colleges.

 Explaining Stuff!

Once I was done with the introduction part we had Rashmi Shrivastav and Simran Singh who explained the enthusiasts about SuMo(Support Mozilla) and how with simple tweets they can serve alot of users all over the world.

They were immediately ready to register with the FSA program and we got around 15-20 womoz registered to it on spot. Then they all made their persona account and registered as volunteers on Support Mozilla and for next few minutes we had some really intresting tweets that were written and answered by these womoz.

Next We had Localization Where Sukesh Chaudhary and Alisha Jose took the charge as Sukesh works on hindi localization whereas Alisha does southern localizations they both explained how people can spend few minutes and their knowledge in order to make life of billions insanely cool!

The part of geo stumbler was explained by Shrey Soni and Shivani Pandey who are leading contributors in the geo stumbling app.

In the end me and Piyush Singhal taught girls about some basic html tags through which they can create simple but impactful applications and also upload it to firefox marketplace.

Overall the impact was great as we now had 20 womoz ready with the mission to make the web open , free and more lovable to use in short be a part of the great Mozillian community. In th eend we also distributed swags to ones who showed great potential with their queries and work, we also took a group picture of th ewomoz which is here...

Jnct MozAware And MozWelcome

5th November,2015

This is the day i have been waiting for the last two years of my Engineering. The "Mega Event" as i named it happened in the auditorium of Jai Narain College Of Technology. The reason why we had it was we had a mission to make Mozilla a class-hold name in our college. Every once in a while a revolution comes along, there are three types of people involved, the first who cause the revolution, the second who are part of the revolution and the third and final one who ignore the revolution. Luckily this event had a neglegible amount of third type! And in total we had 350+ students of 5 braches of just first year, and trust me you could sense the momentum in the air.

Now in this event we talked about various stuff, but the key thing was to make it as simple as possible so that the students could feel a connection. We had following topics on which my team spoke on:

1.)Introduction & History of Mozilla
2.)Products Of Mozilla :
                                    A.) Firefox Browser
                                    B.)Webmaker
                                    C.)Thinderbird Mailing Client
                                    D.)Firefox OS
                                    E.) Marketplace

3.) Introduction To Firefox Friends
4.)Introduction To Firefox Students Ambassador Program
5.)Benefits And Recognitions in FSA
6.)How To Contribute In Mozilla

As the event started i began with the introduction of Mozilla, its community and its history. It felt insanely amazing to witness such a reception from students who were new to this revolution. The introduction was delivered in such a way that they can understand what Mozilla is all about. Then i invited Shubham Shrivastava to introduce webmaker to the students

As the event proceeded Shubham explained how webmaker helps people with absolutley no knowledge of coding to create something amazing, how Mozilla helps to bring the right tools at the right places possible. Within few seconds one can build a easy to use applications that makes life worth living.

We then had brief descriptions of Appmaker given by Shivani Pandey who is a wonderful womoz app developer in Jnct Firefox Club.

Its always good to see girls coming forward in such events this is not only brings and inspires others but always makes an everlasting impact on the audience.

Then we had two other brief descriptions of Firefox developers browser and  geo stumbler by Himanshu Goswami and Piyush Singhal.

What astonished me was the students actually wanted to have the apps installed on their phones, and we even have some downloads on spot!

Then it was my turn again to introduce the most important thing..
The Mozilla Firefox Student Ambassador Program, i was a bit nervous as this was the first time students were getting exposed to something of this level. So I introduced Firefox Friends first so that people get to know about social networks in a completely new manner.

Once it was done I decided to shoot the last arrow left in my armoury...The One More Thing.. Womoz!

And Girls like Riya Gupta, Rashmi Shrivastav are one of the best we have so they took the job quite professionally as they hold the audience still for each moment they were there!

Finally we ended the event with some questions and swag distributions!

Some random moments from our event..

And finally the team picture with professors and head of department!!

Firefox Hindi Download Campaign

28th October
Jnct Bhopal

Firefox is now available in hindi!
As i read this script on my screen i took a deep breath.. What the hell was firefox thinking when they took this step..i mean this is the most historic step for me as far as Firefox is considered, not only this meant more number of downloads but also a great way to connect more people to the web something that has been the motive of Mozilla since the very beginning. So as we got the confirmation that we had a campaign for firefox Hindi download i took this vision to my college and proposed to authorities that we can conduct a small session telling students the reason for this step, its uses and how this is the product that has the potential to become a household name in India.

Firstly my team went to different classes and we had great energy, the queries were yhe most amazing part of this introduction session and then we headed to labs where managed to get 35-50 downloads we could get more but due to inappropriate internet and less number of attendies we were restricted to this. Here are some pictures:

The Student looks at the download window!

Amazing how the download was localized into something thatvis most spoken language in India.

Womoz helping first year students to download Mozilla Firefox Hindi

The event proceeds ... With more and more people indulging

Explaining people before and during download that how Mozilla Firefox Hindi is the best localized browser available on teh internet today.

We had a great team who actively participated in this campaign including me,Sukesh Kumar,Priyanka Mehre,Simran Singh,Shrey Soni,Shubham Shrivastav,Yash Sonune and Sapna Mishra.

Also later on we had swag distribution for the best queries asked and also for the enthusiasm of students

Overall it's been a great event the response was brilliant and we hope to bring such innovations to the general public!

Its been two months since I introduced Mozilla to my college Jai Narain College Of Technology, and the results have been phenominal.

From being alone in my college in this program now i lead the team of 14 awesome mates..Firstly the Womoz
Rashmi,Riya,Simran,Shivani,Priyanka,Sapna,Alisha,Ankita and then the Bromoz Me,Piyush,Sukesh,Shubham,Shrey And Yash. Not only did we got to know each other on a completely different level but we also got the chance to connect with people, the splendid community that we became a part of and ofcourse grow!

Firstly we started with basic contributions
As Sumo(Support Mozilla) in Aoa(Army of Awesome) . We all were below 150 at that time but our constant efforts paid off in the end.
We had
Rashmi at 3
Simran at 13
Me at 14
Piyush at 24
And the rest under 50 within 2 weeks of joining!

Then the ones who had android device joined geo stumbler and provided markable reports. We have Yash, Shubham,Sapna and Priyanka who are continuously exploring the uncharted territories just to make the experience of other users better each day.

Then came localizations where we had Sukesh, Riya and Alisha who all are doing the jobs they were told to do as we can see we have
Sukesh at rank 8th
Riya at rank 12th in all over India for Hindi localization and also we had Alisha who is contributing in southern languages.

Thats the talk of works now lets move to app development section of the club
We have Shivani, Piyush and myself who are learning and implementing our knowledge to develop applications for the fxos marketplace . As the time passes by we are trying to provide the user the ease of access and the charm of compatibility when it comes to apps.

We Have great evangelists Like Rashmi and myself who are trying to spread awareness about Mozilla , its products and also teaching people how the mission of openness, innovation and opportunity can make a difference in lives of other people.

Rashmi and Alisha also had chance to visit S.A.T.I institute in Vidhisha(M.P) along with the team of Rahul Talreja,Satyadeep,Kushagra,Aditya and Vidit to gain the exeperience of a big event. They also gave a small session on Womoz and how women are great contributors in the technological feild.

Me,Shivani and Priyanka also visited Shri Satya Sai College in Bhopal(M.P) where we had a introduction to Html for girls and it was great and new exeperience.

Last but not the least i would like to mention all the influential people that keep us connected and guide us through the right paths whenever needed. First of all Faisal Aziz sir, Who is hell of a mentor for new joinees! Then Shafique sir, Vaibhav Sir, Rahul Sir And Also Vinisha Mam Who though aint from Mozilla MP but still helps me whenever i ask her to. Thanks to all for providing us this opportunity hope we keep up to your expectations!

Firefox For Windows 10 Campaign ...Localisation..Recognitions!

Bhopal,
20th Sep 2015

What makes a team even better is the communication it has, the transparency it shares and the beliefs it works upon. The Mozilla Madhya Pradesh is a living example of what a team is supposed to be like. There are Reps, Mentors &  Fsa's who are coming together sharing their knowledge working on passion about the same dream...to satisfy the end Mozilla user. He might be using the firefox browser, the thunderbird or even the freshly introduced Firefox os but he should be happy about the product he uses.

The meet basically had few major agendas:
1.) Contributions Of Fsa's in various sectors.
2.) Localisation
3.)  Firefox For Windows 10 Campaign
4.)Recognition

Rahul Talreja who is also one of the Mozilla Representatives started the meet at "Grills & More" Bhopal(M.P). As discussed above the first thing he talked about was the ways and sectors through which a Fsa(Firefox Students Ambassador) can contribute. He discussed the various levels of recognition in FSA.

Then we were joined by Vaibhav Bajaj who is also a Mozilla representative. He told us how to localise mozilla browser i.e how to translate the firefox web browser into our local language which can be hindi, urdu, punjabi etc. Now the question arises how can this help the end user?
As we know that in India majority of people speak hindi or their respective language thus, with this initiative Mozilla wants to make a home like environment for its users which is a innovative thinking to be said.

Then we had all the reps and fsa and we learnt how to make the Mozilla Firefox Browser the default web browser for Windows 10. Through this we are introduced to  Firefox For Windows 10 campaign Where we try to open ourselves to the firefox environment instead of being encaged to the walled gardens.

Finally came the part where all the worthy and top contributors were awarded :

Satyadeep Bhardwaj  Receiving swags and Tshirt For being Number 1 For more than a month in SuMO(Army OF Awesome)

The top contributors from womoz(Women In Mozilla) with the swags. They have been performing exceptionally well in areas like GeoLocation Stumbler..SuMo(Support Mozilla) etc..Its good to see how passion can bring people together and how a team can perform exceptionally well!

Jnct Firefox Club winning swags  for their performance!

101 Tweets..From 33 To 8!

SuMo(Support Mozilla)
Bhopal Diaries..

Sumo- Support Mozilla is a wing in the hood of mozilla that helps customers by getting a interaction directly with the volunteers of Mozillian Community. The users tweet or ask questions in the forums while the volunteers are supposed to answer them or reply them in order to make their experience better with firefox. The users on one hand get their problems solved whereas the contributors on the other hand gain experience of dealing with people, marketting a specific product or or even gaining more and more knowledge about the products of mozilla and problems faced by a general user.

After this short info I want to share my exeperience with SuMo. Its been a month since i attended moz meet given by Rahul Talreja  and I was so much intrested in Mozilla that i immediately came into action.Though there were many things that he told us but of all i liked SuMo the most, as it not only provided me with an option to show my contributions but also get a chance to be part of something really big and actually awesome.

So that very day i logged into Mozilla Support and joined Army Of Awesome. Each day i gave half an hour to this and believe me this experience was something i had experienced never before, new people..solving their doubts! The irony is today i posted my 101th tweet in Mozilla Support(Army Of Awesome) and then i saw the list of top contributors and i was ranked 8th! I feel really great and thankful towards Mozilla and Rahul for believing me..having faith in me and trusting me when it was needed.
Thanks Alot!
